Claimed 3D CAD images of the iPad mini 4 supports earlier reports that the upcoming device will adopt a very similar form factor to the iPad Air 2, getting the thickness down from 7.5mm to 6.1mm. A video (below) of the CAD images was posted by @onleaks, a source with a good track-record …
The generally-reliable Ming-Chi Kuo had earlier said that the iPad mini 4 would essentially be a smaller version of the iPad Air 2, stating that it would also get updated specs. It’s been suggested that these might include the same 8MP rear-facing camera and fully-laminated display with anti-glare coating as the Air 2.

@onleaks had previously posted video and photos of the casing, which did not at that stage give any indication of dimensions.

I got the Mini 3 after three years with an iPad 2, and would never go back to a full tablet size, Air or not. It’s everything I need it to be and even I can hold it with one of my tiny hands. I have no need for a camera (that’s what my phone is for), and have never had an issue with processor speed. Long live the Mini!
Just what we need. A more bendable Mini. I wasn’t aware that the Mini needed fixing. My iPad 2 had done nothing but gather dust since I bought my first Mini.
Once Mini Bendgate happens though, Apple can counter by recharacterizing it as ‘flexible’.
The front camera on the iPads is definitely NOT 8 megapixels. I wish lol
It still boggles my mind that they don’t put the same camera in this as they do on the iPhone – WITH flash. How many people do you see out and about with iPads taking photos? I see this constantly and it’s a shame that these photos are such low resolution and horribly lit.
Its a bigger shame that people take photos using iPads, doesn’t matter if a lot of them do that.
I think that’s more user error. It’s not designed to be a camera replacement. The camera is there for FaceTime and that it.
When is Apple going to realize that NO ONE cares about how thin a phone is. Like no one. Androids are outselling iPhones 10 to 1 and they never press the issue of thinness. Time to make a better phone, update the ancient OS, add features, improve the camera for the first time since its release, etc. It’s the same phone as it was five year ago, and they still patch the phones to slow down after two years forcing you to buy a new one. Meanwhile, Androids get faster with patches. The choice is still clear.
R.I.P. silent/rotation lock switch. :(
