In the lead-up to the release of the iPhone 6s, with its new 4K video camera, Apple has released an updated version of iMovie for iOS that enables editing of 4K video on the latest devices. The update also adds 3D Touch support to help users start a new project more quickly from the home screen.
Users will also be able to create 1080p movies at 60fps on the new iPhone models. The UI has been tweaked for the upcoming iPad Pro to enable a full 1080p preview window and a full-height media browser. External and on-screen keyboards have gained the ability to take advantage of new shortcuts.
The media browser can be hidden while editing to free up more screen space, and the Ken Burns effect on photos can now be disabled. Other UI tweaks have been made throughout the app to make things easier to find and use.
You can download iMovie for iOS on the App Store now for $4.99. Today’s update is free for existing users. The change log is included below.
