Apple has announced the grand opening of its latest retail store in China, this one in the city of Dalian, a major port and financial center. The store opens at 9.30am on Saturday 24th October.
The store, located in the six-storey Parkland Mall shown above and below, has been a long time coming. It was first announced way back in 2012, when the mall boasted that it would be “Apple’s World’s Biggest Flagship Store.” That claim is almost certainly out of date now, with the Dubai store set to open later this month rumored to be taking that title, but it is still likely to be one of the largest stores in the world …
Apple began hiring for the store earlier this year, with US-based retail employees encouraged to apply.
Dalian is a modern city, and its famous beaches make it a popular tourist destination for both domestic visitors and those from Japan, South Korea and Russia. Photos of the city and Parkland Mall can be seen below.

I hope them to open a store in South Korea. Why they don’t make..
I wonder if they’ll get the longest Genius Bar, which currently is in Amsterdam, NL.

it’s in my hometown !!!!! I’m so proud of Apple choosing it. 😍😍😍
I went in there this morning. It’s such a shame; Dalian has waited a long time for this, and it’s pretty disappointing. I couldn’t see a Genius Bar or training area, and the variety of accessories on offer is lacking. Also, the store is tiny; only one floor (it’s similar in size to my flat!) Staff seemed friendly – at least they appeared to speak some English – but the security was fairly menacing; the guards looked like they wanted to kill someone. It’s a far cry from the experience of the Apple store in my hometown in the UK…
