Pad & Quill introduces three new rich iPad Pro cases with linen, leather, and wood

With the iPad Pro now available and shipping around the world, the artisanal Apple accessory makers at Pad & Quill have introduced three new high-end cases to hold and protect the larger tablet. Whether you’re looking for a book-style carrying case that holds Apple Pencil or a nice leather bag that adds room for a keyboard, Pad & Quill’s three new accessories are worth checking out for iPad Pro owners. All three iPad Pro cases from Pad & Quill are offered in multiple colors with rich materials and available to pre-order or order now.

Contega Linen will satisfy anyone looking for Pad & Quill’s wooden book style case made for iPad Pro. Available in charcoal, cranberry, and linen gray, Contega sets your iPad Pro in a wood case that stands up at multiple angles. When shut, Contega disguises your $800-$1080 tablet in what looks like an ordinary sketchbook. There’s even room at the top to tuck your Apple Pencil if you’re using the iPad Pro as one. Cutouts around the wood accommodate the iPad Pro’s four speakers, Lightning port, and headphone jack.

Oxford Leather offers a similar exterior look to Contega, choosing leather over linen to create a folio style case for your iPad Pro. Choose between chestnut or whiskey tones for your leather, which comes with Pad & Quill’s usual 25 year warranty. Oxford features a pocket within the cover where you can stow away paperwork or your Apple Pencil. Oxford doesn’t cover the iPad Pro edges either so you can still use Smart Connector compatible accessories like Apple’s Smart Keyboard with it, P&Q notes. iPad Pro is held inside with “clean release adhesive” so Oxford is likely more ideal for iPad Pro owners more concerned with propping the tablet up than protecting it beyond from drops.

Valet Leather looks to satisfy iPad Pro owners that don’t exactly want a case but still want to address toting around the 12.9-inch tablet and any accessories. Smaller than a full-sized briefcase or backpack but big enough to tote an iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, and Magic Keyboard, Valet should be as portable as the iPad Pro on its own, but accommodate charging accessories and other important carry-alongs. Keeping the iPad Pro out of sight and having tough leather between the display and rest of the world is another added benefit. Hopefully we can get our hands on these accessories soon and share our impressions.

Contega Linen, Valet Leather, and Oxford Leather each ship for $119.95 and can be ordered online from Pad & Quill now. For comparison, Apple’s Smart Cover ($59) plus Silicone Case ($79) costs $140 if you want to cover the iPad Pro’s front and back. Valet Leather is in stock now, and Contega and Oxford ship in mid-December if you pre-order.

I own a Pad and Quill Kindle case…. Built very similarly to a dodoCase and with very nice materials. For those in the market for this type of product, P&Q is an absolutely viable option and they make some nice products. The Apple Watch bands look like a total miss, but to each his own.

Whether posts such as this one are technically “sponsored” or not, it is obvious that at the least P&Q is providing the editors with free items and quite likely some sponsorship dollars. Therefore, these type of posts do very little to help the reputation of the company they are representing or “reviewing.” Whereas I used to view Pad and Quill as a true luxury products company, the continued presence on this site makes both 9to5mac and P&Q seem a little desperate. . It makes me question the actual build quality of the items much more than I would have before. Because of the biased nature of these “reviews,” it makes it seem less likely that the products are as high end as the reviews purport.

Overall, you guys run a great website and I check it obsessively, and have disabled Adblock log ago to make sure you get revenue dollars from me. In my opinion, however, these type of posts really undermine all the good work you do and damage your credibility when it comes to reviewing any third party accessory.

Another site I frequent, dappered.com (a men’s style blog) deals with this issue in a much more transparent way, even making a monthly post thanking the advertisers. They also usually disclose when reviewing an item from a sponsor. I realize that you are in a hard business and need revenue wherever you can get it, but I think the readers here would appreciate a little more transparency.

The elephant in the room with virtually all the existing iPad pro covers is that NONE of them have adequate storage solutions for the Apple Pencil, and, anyone with the Pro is going to want one of those…..Ive been looking all morning, and even Apple covers don’t have them. Amazing !

Looks like Jordan didn’t like my post. I asked, am I at 9to5Mac or 9to5Pad&Quill?

They didn’t like my post and took it down. If these aren’t sponsored posts, can the site get the message that we’re just sick and tired of Pad & Quill articles?

Thanks for the feedback. Not a Sponsored Post. Those will have Sponsored Post tags near the headline where this one says iOS Devices. Also the author on Sponsored Posts will have a special Sponsored Posts author so they’re clearly marked as such and don’t interfere with editorial content. I just found these cases to be timely and likely of interest to new iPad Pro owners like myself.

This case is pretty cool, fairly similar to the P&Q stuff, and a better price point: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0183IDHQE
