setteB.IT noticed that French, Italian and Spanish iPhone owners can now take advantage of Apple’s Trade Up With Installments plan, where you use your existing phone as a down payment on a new one, paying off the balance in installments over two years. It’s effectively the iPhone Upgrade Program available in the U.S., but with lower monthly payments in exchange for handing over your old phone.
For example, if you traded in an iPhone 5s in France for an iPhone 6s, you’d pay €27.56/month for two years for a total of €661.44 – instead of €749 to buy one outright.
Although you’re getting interest-free credit, the deal isn’t a great one considering that you’re effectively being offered less than €100 for a phone you could sell on eBay for twice as much. But if you just want a no-hassle way to get a new iPhone on credit, you may decide it’s worth it.
Note that the actual sum offered for your old iPhone will depend on its condition – something you need to check out by taking it into an Apple Store.
