WWDC News Hub/Live Blog: Watch Apple unveil iOS 10, macOS 10.12, watchOS 3 & more

It’s Monday, June 13th and Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is about to kick off with the company’s opening keynote and press event at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET.

iOS 10, OS X macOS 10.12, watchOS 3, and updates to tvOS for the new Apple TV are just a few of the expected announcements alongside some highlights from Siri and Apple Music. We’ll be bringing you up-to-the-minute coverage as usual with live updates and analysis, and you’ll also find handy links to all of our other WWDC coverage in the News Hub below.

Swift Playgrounds gets developer preview today, beta in July and App Store release in Fall. Free to all.

–Apple now demoing the new Swift Playgrounds app. The app has a custom iOS coding keyboard.

–New iPad app called “Swift Playgrounds” teaches people to learn how to code using Apple’s Swift language.

–iOS 10 developer preview today. Public beta in July. Release this fall.

–Apple now talking end-to-end encryption and privacy.

–Split View in Safari in iPad coming in iOS 10

–Notes collaboration features coming in iOS 10.

–The new Messages content will be viewable on Macs and Apple Watch.

–Messages gets developer support. New App drawer in Messages allow third-party integrations for things like stickers and payments. Square money transfers shown, but no mention of Apple Pay support.

–Apple demoing new Messages features including bubble effects and inline audio and video.

–Full-screen effects

–new handwriting and digital touch integration for Messages.

Messages get new interactive “bubble effects” with animations of message bubbles. Invisible ink effect.

–Camera and photo UI improvements, 3x bigger emoji and emoji predictions/suggestions

–Messages gets rich links to show inline video and photo previews

–VOIP apps can now integrate into the lock screen and contacts

–Voicemail transcriptions available in iOS 10 in beta

–iPad and Apple Watch get new Home controls too

watchOS 3 has an new emergency “SOS” button with a press and hold of side button.
