If you’ve been patiently waiting for a jailbreak for the last few months, then your wait is about to come to an end. The Pangu hacking team has stated via its official Twitter account that an iOS 9.2 – iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak will be released soon for 64-bit devices.
The last widely-used jailbreak was released in October of last year. That means that it’s been almost a year since we last saw a public jailbreak released that actually mattered to the majority of would-be jailbreakers.
Pangu did release an iOS 9.1 jailbreak tool was back in March, but most users had already upgraded their iOS software by then, and were thus ineligible to downgrade in order to take advantage of the jailbreak.
In my opinion, this has been the greatest lull that the jailbreak community has experienced so far, but the waiting period seems to be coming to an end sooner than later.
We are going to release Pangu jailbreak tool for iOS 9.2 – 9.3.3 very soon. Please check its website at pangu.io and be patient. Thanks all

Users are reporting that a Chinese version of the tool is already available, and that it’s a semi-tethered jailbreak. Until a US tool is officially released and we hear comment from Pangu, we’ll hold off judgement.

Although this has been a nice surprise to wake up to, it shouldn’t be shocking, as Pangu has previously alluded to the existence of a jailbreak. At its 2016 MOSEC security conference in Shanghai, Pangu hinted at both an iOS 9.x jailbreak, and a potential iOS 10 jailbreak. It even went as far as to show off Cydia running on iOS 10.
Already, Pangu’s tweet has received over 3,000 likes and nearly 3,000 retweets. People are hungry for this jailbreak.
I know that jailbreaking is a very divisive topic because of the inherent security risks, but I will still be participating, albeit probably on a test device. What about you?
