While preorders for the Apple Watch Series 2 went live last Friday from Apple and Best Buy, customers who preordered from the latter of the two options are now receiving emails informing them that their order is delayed. Best Buy this evening sent out emails informing customers of the delay, explaining that the new street date for the Apple Watch Series 2 is September 28th.

The email doesn’t specify a reasoning for the delay, though Best Buy places the blame on Apple. “We’ve learned from Apple there’s been a shipping delay for this item,” the email reads.

As for the new September 28th release date, Best Buy says that customers should expect their Apple Watch Series 2 to arrive “on or around” the September 28th date, with arrivals times potentially varying because of location.

To make up for the delay, Best Buy is offering customers a $50 promotional code towards their next purchase at Best Buy. It’s unclear at this point if everyone who preordered the Apple Watch Series 2 from Best Buy is affected by this delay, but it seems as if it’s at least a good portion.

As for those who preordered from Apple, the company has not made any announcements concerning delays of those shipments, though most users are still waiting for their order to ship despite the September 16th date quickly approaching. Personally, my Apple Watch Series 2 order is still listed as “Preparing for shipment” on Apple’s order status page.

In terms of retail availability, we’ve heard from our retail sources that stores have received Apple Watch Series 2 supply, although it’s apparently very limited in variety and quantity.

Have you received notification of your Apple Watch Series 2 being delayed? Let us know in the comments and read the full email from Best Buy below.
