Google today introduced Trips, a new app that lets you manage and organize everything about your vacations in one place. The app tries to solve a big pain point with international travel — Internet access — by automatically storing all your trip information offline, and it also makes suggestions during your trip based on what’s nearby to craft the perfect day plans…
The most obvious feature of this app is that your trip reservations are automatically gathered from your Gmail account and stored offline (if you have an Android phone, you’re already used to Google Now helping you with this). The app automatically turns this information into “Trips” within the app, and then you can dive deeper and plan activities for each.
And part of that is the “Day Plans” feature, which will give you suggestions for entire days worth of activities in “several hundred of the world’s top places.” These day plans are displayed on a map and can be customized to your liking. The app also lets you know when you’re near popular attractions, and makes suggestions for things you might want to do.
Google Trips makes exploring the world easier by organizing your essential info in one place and making it available even offline. Get activity suggestions based on what’s nearby, customizeable day plans, and your travel reservations from Gmail.
The app is available now on the Play Store and the iOS App Store for free.
