First announced during CES, Hyper’s new combo 8-in-1 USB-C Hub for Mac with a built-in 7.5W Qi Wireless charger and stand for iPhone officially goes up for preorder today on Kickstarter.
The new HyperDrive adds 8 ports in total to your Mac via a single USB-C cable. That gives you 4K HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, microSD, SD, 3 x USB-A 3.1 and USB-C Power Delivery in a super compact 5.1″ x 3.7″ x 1″ package. Hyper has already reached its funding goal for the Kickstarter campaign, so it’s on track to deliver the first orders by April.
With the built-in wireless charging stand, you’ll have support for all 4 Qi wireless charging standards (7.5W, 5W, 10W and 15W). And Hyper’s tests show its charger will be the fastest available for iPhone when it launches, beating out the competition by charging an iPhone X from empty to full in under 3 hours (2h58m).
The new HyperDrive is available pre-order starting today at Kickstarter early bird pricing for $79 ahead of $159 retail pricing when it launches.
A big thanks again to Hyper who sponsored 9to5Mac’s 2018 CES coverage this year. Catch up on all the announcements from the show here.
