Over recent months, Snapchat has been working to expand the reach of its content by making it available across different mediums. Today, the company continues those efforts with support for Snap Maps on the web…
As noted by The Verge, Snap Maps on the web is an easy way for users to quickly see whats going on around them. Housed on Snapchat’s website, the interface allows users to browse the map for content. Just like on iOS, hot spots of content, such as where there’s a big event of some sort, are denoted by blobs of color.
Clicking on one of the hot spots will allow you to watch the localized story for that area. For instance, clicking on a hot spot that’s caused by a concert will show you all user-submitted videos and pictures from that concert.
Furthermore, Snapchat Stories on Snap Maps are embeddable across the web, meaning you can easily share them on other platforms. Here’s one for Chicago:
Snap Maps support for the web is Snapchat’s second big push into web content. Last month, the company launched support for sharing Story content to Twitter, Facebook, and other web platforms.
By making content accessible outside of the Snapchat app, Snap hopes that it will attract more eyes to the unique content the app aggregates and thus drive user growth and retention.

It’s not quite as intuitive and easy to use as the Snap Map feature in the iOS app, but it does mark yet another way to get your Snapchat fix in times when your phone isn’t readily accessible.
