The iOS 12.1 update will bring more than 70 new emoji to iPhone and iPad users. Apple has also tweaked some of the existing set, most notably the iPhone device emoji. Despite the iPhone X being around for almost a year, the emoji demonstrated a silver iPhone 6. That has finally changed in the latest beta …
iOS 12.1 introduces a new look iPhone emoji that reflects the design of more modern iPhones such as: iPhone X, iPhone XS and iPhone XR. It drops the white bezel and home button for a full-screen iPhone with a notch.
Eagle-eyed readers will spot that the number of home screen icons has also been increased to match the icon grid on iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. The affected emoji are technically called ‘Mobile Phone’ (📱) and ‘Phone Call’ (📲).
Unfortunately, the Apple Watch emoji has not been updated in the current seeds to reflect the refined industrial design of the Apple Watch Series 4.
