Up to now, Walkie-Talkie availability had to be changed in the Walkie-Talkie app itself. There’s a switch at the top of the friends list in the Walkie-Talkie app to toggle availability.
With watchOS 5.1.2, you can now do this from anywhere in watchOS thanks to a new Control Center toggle. Open Control Center by long-pressing at the bottom edge of the watch and then swipe up. Scroll down to find a new toggle bearing the Walkie-Talkie icon.
The new toggle shines bright yellow when available, or greyed out when inactive. You can simply tap on the button to switch availability. Unfortunately, availability status is still shown as a transient indicator on the watch face with every wrist raise. This indicator is distracting and still cannot be disabled.
Like all Control Center toggles in watchOS 5, you can rearrange its position by pressing the Edit button to enter jiggle mode.
As previously reported, watchOS 5.1.2 includes Infograph complications for Home, Mail, Maps, Messages, News, Phone and the Remote app. We’ve also spotted a Find My Friends circular complication in today’s official build.
iOS 12.1.1 includes support for the new complications in the companion Watch app, as well as the return of Live Photos in FaceTime. Although Apple has not announced release timeframes, we expect these minor OS updates to be available to everyone before the end of the year.
