If you’ve suddenly been logged out of the Instagram and Threads apps, it’s not just you. There’s a bug affecting a number of users of Meta’s platforms on Thursday night, causing their accounts to be logged out for no reason. Read on as we share more details about the bug.
Users getting logged out of Instagram and Threads
Based on many reports on the social network X, Instagram and Threads users are experiencing a bug where their accounts are suddenly logged out. It’s still possible to log back into the apps, but the account is logged out again eventually. Some users have also reported being unable to upload photos and stories to Instagram.
“I thought my instagram got hacked just now. I got logged out all of my accounts at the same time,” a user said. “Anyone else having issues with logging into Instagram? Like being logged completely out without actually signing out yourself,” another user complained.
It’s still unclear what’s causing the bug. Earlier this month, Meta’s platforms faced a major outage that completely took down Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and Threads for hours. Meta later explained that it had “a technical problem” with its platforms without going into further detail. Something similar might be happening today.
Meta is yet to acknowledge the bug or potential outage, and there’s no known workaround for now other than manually relogging into Instagram and Threads apps. Have you been affected by the bug? Let us know in the comments section below.
