tvOS 18.2 beta 3 adds new Snoopy screensaver to Apple TV

Back at WWDC 2024 in June, Apple teased new screensavers for Apple TV with tvOS 18, including screensavers based on popular Apple TV+ movies and shows. Now Apple is finally rolling out one of these screensavers with the latest beta of tvOS 18.2, starting with Snoopy.

Apple TV gets new Snoopy screensaver

As noted by Aaron Zollo and confirmed by 9to5Mac, tvOS 18.2 beta 3 – which is now available to developers – adds a new Snoopy screensaver to Apple TV.

For those unfamiliar, Apple acquired the rights to the Peanuts franchise characters back in 2018, a year before launching Apple TV+, and has released multiple new Snoopy titles since then.

When it comes to the new screensaver, users will see Snoopy and his friends in different scenarios when Apple TV is inactive for a certain period. The Snoopy screensaver joins the Photos & Slideshows and Portraits options, the latter added with tvOS 18.0. Apple has also teased a screensaver of the Apple TV+ show “Foundation,” but this one remains unavailable.

In addition to a new Snoopy screensaver, tvOS 18.2 also adds support for different aspect ratios, so users can connect Apple TV to projectors or even ultra-wide monitors.

One of the most exciting new features in tvOS 18 is certainly InSight, which shows information about actors, characters, and even songs playing in an Apple TV+ movie or show. With just a tap, the Apple TV app shows you everything you need to know about that particular scene.

The update also improves the Enhance Dialogue feature and automatically turns on subtitles when you press the Mute button. In addition, tvOS 18 introduces a redesigned Fitness+ app and lets users set a specific iPhone as a dedicated camera for FaceTime and other apps.

tvOS 18.2 beta is currently available for developers. The update with the new Snoopy screensaver and more will be released to the public in December and works with Apple TVs from 2015 and later.
