Apple has released macOS Sequoia 15.2 beta 4 for developers. The new update arrives as we get closer to the public launch that’s right around the corner. Here’s what to expect from beta 4.
Bug fixes and performance improvements are priority
Most of the time when Apple releases a fourth beta version of new software, you’re likely to see some improvements, new features, and notable changes.
With today’s beta 4, while that’s still possible, more likely Apple is focused on bug fixes and under the hood tweaks in preparation for the fast-approaching public launch.
It may also bring the security fixes introduced in macOS 15.1.1 yesterday.
Apple is expected to ship macOS 15.2 in early-to-mid December. And with next week’s Thanksgiving holiday in the US standing between now and then, that means there’s very little time for new beta releases.
As a result, while beta 4 should hopefully run better on your Mac than prior releases, you probably won’t find any noteworthy changes this time around.
Highlights of macOS Sequoia 15.2
macOS Sequoia 15.2 is a strong update for Mac users, largely due to its Apple Intelligence upgrades. New AI features include:
- ChatGPT in Siri: A powerful addition to Apple’s assistant.
- Image Playground: An app for creating original images with AI.
- Writing tools enhancements: You can now use ChatGPT to compose original text from scratch, and Apple’s rewriting tools can be given specific instructions for a custom revision.
- Language expansion: Apple Intelligence now offers localized English support in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK.
Unfortunately, Genmoji don’t appear to have made the cut despite being in companion iOS and iPadOS 18.2 updates.
Beyond Apple Intelligence, macOS 15.2 also adds a new Weather widget for the Menu Bar, a Find My update that lets you share lost items’ locations with others, and some other minor design and UI tweaks.
