Apple Music’s 2024 Artist of the Year is Billie Eilish, the first ever two-time winner

Apple Music has announced that its 2024 Artist of the Year is Billie Eilish. And she’s the first artist to ever claim the top crown twice. Here are the details.

Eilish won the inaugural Artist of the Year in 2019 too

From Apple’s announcement post:

Billie Eilish was announced today as Apple Music’s Artist of the Year, recognizing the singer-songwriter’s extraordinary impact throughout 2024.

Following a historic second Academy Award win and two additional GRAMMY Awards for her contribution to Greta Gerwig’s feature-length film Barbie, “What Was I Made For?,” Billie released her third full-length album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT. At once vulnerable and bold, it’s the sound of a generational artist taking a massive leap forward — and the best music of her career. Upon release, the album soared to No. 1 on Apple Music’s all-genre albums chart in 138 countries worldwide.

Today’s announcement means Eilish has not only won her second Academy Award this year, but this is also her second Apple Music Artist of the Year honor too. She originally won in 2019 when the Apple Music Awards first launched.

Eilish and Apple Music have worked closely together since her career first took off, as the artist alludes to in her reception quote:

“Since day one, Apple Music has supported my music and artistry, and I am both honored and humbled to receive this recognition as Artist of the Year this many years into my career,” Billie told Apple Music.

Beyond selecting Eilish as Artist of the Year, Apple has also published a variety of ‘The Best of 2024’ playlists on Apple Music. Those are available here.
