Apple has released the macOS Sequoia 15.2 RC (release candidate) in beta. It’s available for both developers and public beta users, providing both groups with access to the exact software expected to ship to all users soon. Here’s everything you should know.
New features coming in macOS Sequoia 15.2
macOS Sequoia 15.2 has been in beta since October, even before 15.1 was publicly released. That’s because it’s a sizeable update that includes a variety of powerful new Apple Intelligence features.
Mac users with an M1 model or later can enjoy:
- ChatGPT integration with Siri
- the Image Playgrounds app and system feature
- writing tool upgrades with ChatGPT and custom rewrite requests
- localized English support in a variety of places such as Australia, Canada, the UK, and more
Notably, macOS 15.2 does not include Genmoji support. The feature is available for iPhone and iPad users in the companion iOS and iPadOS 18.2 updates, but isn’t yet ready for the Mac.
Beyond the AI features added in 15.2, there are several nice additional upgrades to macOS:
- you can add a Weather widget to the Menu Bar
- AirPlay screen sharing gains new options
- Find My item locations can be shared with others
- plus several UI tweaks and bug fixes
Beta arrives ahead of expected public launch next week
Today’s new beta focuses entirely on bug fixes and performance improvements. That’s because the public launch of macOS Sequoia 15.2 is expected next week.
As Apple’s beta cycles wind down, the software becomes more stable, and fewer new features are added.
If there are no major bugs discovered in today’s RC update, Apple will ship this same exact software build to all users. However, it’s possible a second RC will be needed with some last-minute fixes.
The RC update can be downloaded from System Settings in the Software Update screen.
