New Apple TV+ thriller puts Jessica Chastain undercover in online hate groups

Apple TV+ has announced the first details and release date for a new thriller, The Savant, that stars Jessica Chastain and is coming soon.

The Savant coming to Apple TV+ this fall as 8-part limited series

Today Apple unveiled a new limited series premiering this fall.

The Savant will debut on Friday, September 26 with its first two episodes on Apple TV+, followed by weekly releases through November 7.

Jessica Chastain plays the titular ‘Savant’ character, and the Academy Award winner also serves as executive producer.

Here’s Apple’s series summary:

The tense and thrilling series follows an undercover investigator known as “The Savant” (Chastain) as she infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act. The cast of “The Savant” is also led by Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste and guest star Pablo Schreiber.

The Savant is based on a 2019 Cosmopolitan story titled, “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?”

Series showrunner is Melissa James Gibson, who also serves as writer and producer. She is best known for her work on House of Cards, Anatomy of a Scandal, and The Americans.

Apple has not yet shared any footage of the new show, but a trailer release should arrive in the coming weeks.

The Savant joins what’s shaping up to be a very busy September for Apple TV+, with the highly anticipated returns of Slow Horses and The Morning Show joining it, along with the Denzel Washington-starring crime thriller Highest 2 Lowest.
