Apple releases beta 9 for iPadOS 26, tvOS 26, watchOS 26, more [U]

Apple has just released another wave of beta updates for its forthcoming major software versions, including beta 9 for iPadOS 26, tvOS 26, and more.

Update: Apple has now shipped public beta versions of the same builds, just a few hours after the developer releases.

New beta 9 builds available for Apple’s major new OS versions

Based on prior years’ patterns, last week’s beta 8 updates from Apple were widely expected to be the last releases before next week’s RC (release candidate) versions.

Today, however, the company shipped a wave of beta 9 updates.

New beta 9 releases include:

  • iOS 26
  • iPadOS 26
  • macOS Tahoe
  • tvOS 26
  • visionOS 26
  • watchOS 26
  • HomePod 26

Apple is still expected to save its RC builds until after next week’s iPhone 17 event on September 9.

However, these latest releases should offer more bug fixes and stability improvements to beta users.

Currently, beta 9 is only available for developers, but we will likely see public beta builds follow suit later today.

Personally, I’ve encountered more issues running beta 8 than I would normally expect for a release that’s so near to its public launch. Here’s hoping today’s beta 9 updates offer meaningful improvements.
