Apple TV unveils return of high-stakes thriller coming next month

One of Apple TV’s best thriller series, Hijack, is coming back for a highly anticipated season 2 next month, and the newly released trailer reveals what to expect.

Hijack trailer reveals action-packed season 2 coming

Hijack first premiered on Apple TV in 2023 as a high-stakes, real-time-format thriller where the action on screen matches the pace at which you’re watching. It’s a style popularized by the series 24 in the early 2000s.

The first season took place on a plane, but for the show’s next chapter, star Idris Elba finds himself on an underground train.

Hijack season 2 arrives Wednesday, January 14 with one episode, followed by weekly Apple TV releases through March 4.

Here’s Apple’s official summary of the season, followed by the new trailer:

In the thrilling second season of “Hijack,” a Berlin underground train and its commuters are taken hostage, while, above ground, authorities scramble to save hundreds of lives. Sam Nelson (Elba) is at the heart of the crisis on board, where one wrong decision could spell disaster.

If you haven’t yet seen Hijack, it’s an especially binge-friendly series that you could blow through pretty quickly over the holidays. That said, the trailer indicates new viewers may be able to jump right into season 2 without feeling lost.

You can watch the full first season of Hijack here with an Apple TV subscription.
