Apple releases public beta 1 of macOS Tahoe 26.3

After releasing the first developer beta of macOS Tahoe 26.3 earlier this week, Apple is already rolling out its public counterpart. Here’s what to expect.

Few changes slated for this release so far

The first macOS Tahoe 26.3 beta looks like a quiet one, with very few user-facing and under-the-hood changes.

Overall, yesterday’s betas introduced interesting tidbits on iOS, including further laying the groundwork for the EU-mandated third-party notification forwarding, and new iPhone wallpapers alongside a new wallpaper section. However, macOS saw little to no relevant changes.

This may indicate that Apple is focusing on stability and bug fixes for this version, as it prepares the stage for a broader set of new features in macOS 26.4 and beyond.

How to install macOS Tahoe 26.3 public beta 1

To install, the first thing you have to do is enroll in Apple’s public beta program at https://beta.apple.com/. Once you’re done, here’s the step-by-step:

  • Open System Settings
  • Go to General ⇾ Software Update
  • Click the ‘i’ icon next to Beta Updates
  • From the dropdown menu in the top-right, select the macOS Tahoe 26 Public Beta
  • Hit ‘Done’
