This new $90 SmallRig S70 mic kit launched at CES 2026 is a must-see for creators

SmallRig isn’t a new name for creators; we’ve featured a few of their products across the 9to5 network. But at CES 2026, SmallRig has released something that, in my opinion, will elevate them even further in the creator space. Let’s take a look at the SmallRig S70 mic kit.

Before we get to the most exciting release, SmallRig has some of the best ways for creators to augment their cameras on the market. There are cages in every configuration for all of your favorite portable cameras.

Additionally, SmallRig has an incredible lineup of mobile-focused cages and accessories – some designed in collaboration with real-world creators – addressing the needs of the people who use these.

For example, the Brandon Li Mobile Video kit we looked at late 2024 is a sleek but versatile tool for getting more out of your mobile phone and is compatible across a massive line-up of devices.

But beyond the cages and mounting accessories, this year, at CES 2026, SmallRig took its collaborative approach and launched a new microphone kit and you won’t believe the features packed into this for the price point. This is the brand new S70 from SmallRig.

There’s a saying in the video world that audio is more important than the image. Viewers can forgive a slightly shaky, blurry, or over- or underexposed image. But if the audio is terrible? If you can’t hear the people talking? That’s an instant skip.

As we dive into the features of this new kit, keep in mind that this is only $90 – Compared to the $330 DJI Mic 3, or even the now $99 DJI Mic Mini, this is a very competitive product.

First, let’s take a look at the whole package. Inside the sleek case are two receivers and two microphones (transmitters).

The dual receivers are a huge benefit because one is designed for a camera, with a 3.5mm output and an included cable to work with your DSLR, mirrorless camera, or action camera, whatever you’re using. The 2nd receiver is much smaller and has a USB-C plug to work with mobile devices.

And a quick note here, SmallRig also has an Apple Lightning version included for free right now. I’m not sure how long this deal will last so be sure to pick it up soon to get the whole package with 3 receivers.

I appreciate this because I’ve been using the DJI mic and Mic Mini for years, and the receiver is massive when connected to my phone. Having something as sleek as this is a massive upgrade.

On the camera receiver is a simple gain control, and on both the phone and camera receivers is a physical switch for Stereo or Mono. If recording with two people, one mic on each, stereo mode means you can isolate each person’s voice and cut them out when they’re not supposed to be talking – a great feature.

Additionally, the camera receiver has a safety track mode – this drops the gain significantly on the second track just in case there are unexpected loud noises that could cause the main track to clip – another massive feature for creators who don’t have control over their filming environment, and that is easy to set up.

The mics, or transmitters, are small and sleek, with a clever design. Rather than clipping on the front and taking up a lot of room visually when placed on your subject, there is a loop that will clip over a collar, hat, or wherever you need it.

Additionally, SmallRig offers a pack with eight different colored covers that will slip over the microphone to blend in with your subjects outfit. If you’re tired of seeing big bulky microphones in your videos, this will be a great upgrade.

You might be asking, “Okay, so where does the collaboration come in with the S70?” Well, that comes in with mic tuning by a four-time Grammy Award-winning engineer and 9 EQ presets for dialing the mic to your exact needs.

The list of features doesn’t stop there, either. The S70 features 3 levels of noise reduction, 5 levels of gain adjustment, 8 hours of runtime on the microphones with 40H total when storing in the charging case.
