The hit comedy Ted Lasso is (almost) back. Apple TV has announced that season four will being airing later this year. The highly-anticipated summer release sees the return of star Jason Sudeikis as Ted, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, and more familiar faces.
In this season, Ted Lasso is set on a new mission, as coach of a women’s team. Production is still ongoing right now, but Apple is confident enough to confirm the summer 2026 release date anyway.
Ted Lasso first appeared out of nowhere during the doldrums of 2020 pandemic lockdowns, and began a smash hit for Apple’s nascent streaming service. It also scooped up a bunch of Emmys.
While critical response to season 2 and season 3 was not as unreservedly praised, the show remained popular with audiences and still resonates. Ted Lasso remains on the Top 10 Apple TV chart even to this day — despite the last episode coming out almost three years ago at this point.
While the creators always said that Ted Lasso was conceived as a three-season arc, season four marks the beginning of a new twist in the tale. It is believed to kick off in Ted’s home town in Kansas, before he returns to Richmond.
The creative talent behind the scenes has also been shaken up, with Jack Burditt (Modern Family, 30 Rock) coming onboard as a producer.
Obviously, we don’t know much more yet, but with a promised ‘summer’ release it sounds like Ted Lasso season 4 will premiere in a similar timeframe as season 1 and season 2, in July or August.
