Apple’s first foldable iPhone launches this fall, but we’re increasingly hearing that there’s an entirely different folding design in the works too: an ‘iPhone Flip.’
iPhone Flip is being tested by Apple, per supply chain leak
This fall, the iPhone will get one of its most radical new models ever as a new foldable form factor debuts.
Rumors indicate the iPhone Fold will have a book-style folding design.
However, it sounds like Apple is already hard at work on a different foldable model for the future.
Recently Mark Gurman reported that Apple had a square, clamshell-style foldable iPhone “under consideration.”
Now, it sounds like development is actually further along than that.
Weibo leaker Fixed Focus Digital, who has a reputation for supply chain leaks, shared an update last night.
Per his new post, Apple has officially tested a ‘Flip’ style folding iPhone, but it’s currently undetermined whether it will move on toward mass production.
It’s unclear what exactly this testing has entailed, but it sounds like Apple is fairly serious about the prospect of launching a flip-style iPhone in the future.
If the iPhone Flip does officially join Apple’s product roadmap, the earliest we would likely see it launch is fall 2027. However, 2028 or later is probably a safer bet.
