macOS 26.6 now available, here’s what’s new

Following an extended developer and public beta period, Apple is now rolling out macOS 26.6 to all users with compatible Macs. Here’s what’s new.

macOS 26.6 now available

macOS 26.6 is now available with fixes for more than 150 security vulnerabilities, along with other bug fixes and performance improvements. These include an issue that incorrectly showed deprecation notices for some Intel-only apps, as well as bugs affecting HealthKit and HDR screenshots in Messages.

For users planning on updating to macOS 27 Golden Gate later this year, macOS 26.6 likely starts the indexing process that will power the new Siri AI, the Siri app, and other features related to the new version of Apple Intelligence.

Apple has so far confirmed this only for iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6, but the same process appears likely on the Mac. As users running the macOS 27 beta know, indexing can take several days, so starting it now should reduce the wait after upgrading later this year.

The release build for macOS 26.6 is 25G72, which is different from last week’s RC (25G70).
