Apple releases security updates to macOS Tahoe, Sequoia, and Sonoma [U]

Apple rolled out macOS Sonoma 14.8.9, macOS Sequoia 15.7.9, and macOS Tahoe 26.6.1 today, skipping developer and public betas altogether. Here are the details.

Apple rolls out second round of macOS updates in 9 days

Apple is rolling out point updates to three versions of macOS, all of which contain the following generic release notes:

This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.

The release build for each system is:

• macOS Sonoma 14.8.9 (23J631)
• macOS Sequoia 15.7.9 (24G830)
• macOS Tahoe 26.6.1 (25G76)

Apple has yet to update its security releases page, but given the short window since macOS 26.6 arrived, the lack of developer or public betas, and the company’s recent push to address security vulnerabilities more quickly, the updates likely contain fixes Apple did not want to hold until its next major round of releases.

We’re keeping an eye on Apple’s security release pages and will report back once the company details what has been fixed. In the meantime, given the circumstances, Mac users running macOS Sonoma, Sequoia, or Tahoe may want to install the update sooner rather than later.
