Actor James Marsden, who recently played billionaire Owen Ashe in the second season of Your Friends & Neighbors, was confirmed this week for his Apple TV third production. Here are the details.
Apple TV has a new mystery comedy in the works
A few months ago, Apple Studios confirmed that James Marsden (Paradise, X-Men: Days of Future Past) had been cast as CIA Case Officer Brad Griffin in an upcoming thriller series called Disavowed.
The announcement came just weeks after the premiere of Your Friends & Neighbors’ second season, where he played billionaire Owen Ashe.
Now, as reported by Deadline (via MacMagazine), Marsden has been confirmed for his third Apple TV production, this time a mystery comedy titled Bad News Dads.

Based on the upcoming novel by Adam Frost, Bad News Dads is about an inept men’s baseball rec league team where one of the players’ wives dies in a suspicious accident, and the friendship-starved Ben (Marsden) leads two of his teammates in an impromptu and often misguided investigation into what they increasingly come to think was murder.
Like on Disavowed, Marsden will also act as executive producer. The show “comes from You’re the Worst creator Stephen Falk,” adds Deadline.
The report notes that Frost’s Bad News Dads book is set to be published on April 6, 2027, while Apple TV’s half-hour mystery comedy adaptation is still in development and does not yet have a premiere date.
