ChatGPT users can now book tables and join restaurant waitlists through Yelp

ChatGPT users can now book restaurant reservations and join waitlists through Yelp without leaving their chats. Here are the details.

Yelp expands ChatGPT integration

A few weeks ago, Yelp and ChatGPT struck a content integration partnership that brought Yelp reviews, ratings, photos, and other business information directly into ChatGPT responses.

Today, Yelp announced an expansion of that integration, which will let users in the U.S. and Canada book tables and join waitlists through Yelp without leaving the chat.

Here’s Yelp:

Making plans to visit great local spots is easier than ever. ChatGPT users can now seamlessly access Yelp Reservations and Waitlist to book a table or join the waitlist at thousands of top restaurants across the U.S. and Canada, without leaving the chat. Once booked, users can make changes to their reservations directly through Yelp. By bringing Yelp’s trusted booking capabilities directly into the ChatGPT experience, we’re helping people go from finding the right restaurant to easily securing their spot.

Used in conjunction, this expanded partnership now lets users ask for recommendations and, if available, book a table or join a waitlist from a single chat, complete with a booking flow that includes party size, date and time, contact details, special requests, and confirmation.

Yelp notes that this integration further extends the platform’s presence in AI search, including through organic citations. In its press release, the company says, “Yelp is the most cited home services discovery platform, with a 3.4x lead in citations over its nearest competitor across major AI platforms.”
