Apple Lakeside store reopens on Saturday with new design using sustainable materials

The Apple Lakeside store, located in a large out-of-town shopping center in Essex, England, is set to reopen on Saturday after a major redesign.

The company says the upgrades include new sustainable materials and a range of accessibility improvements …

The store first opened more than two decades ago in October 2007. The redesign includes a dedicated Apple Pickup area for customers ordering online and collecting their devices in store. Accessibility improvements include varied table and seating heights, assisted listening systems, enhanced visual and acoustic clarity, and more space for wheelchair users to navigate through the store.

Apple said the store will reopen at 9am on Saturday.

“We’re excited to open the completely redesigned and upgraded Apple Lakeside, offering customers from across Essex and South East England new ways to discover and shop the latest Apple lineups. The all-new Apple Lakeside features an experience room for customers to explore products, a designated Genius Bar to get personalised support, a dedicated Apple Pick Up area to conveniently collect online orders, and free, educational Today at Apple sessions that inspire customers to go further with their passions.”

There are a total of 39 Apple stores in the UK, with recent or current redesigns and relocations for six of them. Lakeside and Regent Street, London, have been upgraded; redesign work is currently underway at Birmingham and Southampton; whole Trafford and Touchwood were relocated. The Basingstoke store will close later this year.
