Mark Gurman at Bloomberg has offered several last-minute leaks ahead of today’s “Surprise and shine” Apple event, including the iPhone Duo name for the foldable. And his latest post on X details the expected colors for iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
iPhone 18 Pro could offer four colors, including the return of black
Last year iPhone 17 Pro offered a surprising slate of colors. It only had three options, down from the usual four, and there was no black offered.
Rumors about iPhone 18 Pro colors have generally agreed that there’s a new Dark Cherry-type color coming, as well as Light Blue, but the other colors have been less clear.
For example, some leakers have said a third color will be Silver, while others say Black. And at one point, it looked like we might get both, in a return to having four options total.
Now Mark Gurman has chimed in with his expectations, and he says four colors are coming: Black, Light Blue, Silver, and Burgundy.
The addition of Black will be welcome news for many Pro buyers who sorely missed having that option last year.
If Apple does indeed offer four colors, it will be an interesting pivot following what seemed like a successful color strategy last year with fewer options.
But perhaps the company is just learning the right lessons from iPhone 17 Pro’s success, and knows that while Pro users do enjoy fun colors like Cosmic Orange, they also want a Black option.
