iOS 27.0.1 update likely coming soon for iPhone

Apple is testing iOS 27.0.1 for iPhone, according to web traffic analytics for 9to5Mac. The update will likely focus on bug fixes and performance improvements.

iOS 27.0.1 started surfacing in 9to5Mac analytics a few days ago. MacRumors has reported the same.

Apple told 9to5Mac this morning that it will release a software update early next week to fix a problem causing some iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max units to restart after a failed Face ID attempt.

We covered the issue earlier this week, explaining that the issue occurs when you try to use Face ID to unlock an app like Passwords. If Face ID fails, your iPhone might unexpectedly reboot.

I was never able to reproduce this problem on my iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max, but it clearly affected a number of users. The good news is that it’s a bug that can be fixed via software, rather than any sort of hardware fault.

It’s likely, but not confirmed, that iOS 27.0.1 will address that problem. It could also include fixes for other bugs affecting iOS 27 and the new iPhone 18 Pro hardware.
