OpenAI makes 20+ announcements at DevDay event including always-on agents called dots, watch live

OpenAI has teased 20+ announcements as part of its DevDay 2026 event. The event will be streamed live. You can see everything announced today below.

We expect the major announcement to be ChatGPT’s response to SpaceXAI’s Grok Bot and Meta’s Muse, building on existing AI agent tools with broader consumer appeal.

OpenAI already has similar features under the ChatGPT Work umbrella, although the presentation isn’t as simple as Muse and Grok Bot.

Dots, always-on AI agents

Here’s the first bit of news: dots. These are always-on AI agents, a new feature inside ChatGPT.

ChatGPT Space

Next up is a new feature called ChatGPT Space. This is a collaborative work area where you can work with dots, manage pages and presentations, and work with living documents.

GPT-6.1 Sol

Separately, OpenAI has published information about a new GPT-6.1 Sol model release.

“We’re introducing GPT‑6.1 Sol, an upgrade to GPT‑6 Sol that nearly matches GPT‑6 Astra’s intelligence on agentic coding, computer use, and professional work at one-fifth of Astra’s standard input and output token prices,” OpenAI says.

“Cached input costs just $0.10 per million tokens—95% less than standard input pricing and 50% less than GPT‑6 Sol’s cached input pricing—giving developers more room to build and run capable agents that reuse context across requests.”
