Apple TV unveils new series reuniting stars of record-breaking comedy

Apple TV announced a new comedy series coming—The Choir—that reunites Ruth Jones and James Corden, the duo from beloved UK sitcom Gavin & Stacey.

The Choir is new Apple TV series from Ruth Jones and James Corden, reuniting the ‘Gavin & Stacey’ duo

Last year reporting indicated that Apple had struck a deal with Ruth Jones and James Corden for a new comedy series.

Now Apple has made it official: Jones and Corden are reuniting for The Choir, a new Apple TV series coming in 2027.

The duo might not be as well known to US viewers (though Corden has an established US track record), but they starred together in the massively popular UK sitcom Gavin & Stacey. For context, its series finale in 2024 became the UK’s most watched scripted show ever.

Here’s the official series summary for The Choir:

Brother and sister Ben (Corden) and Lisa (Jones) haven’t seen each other for several years. Ben has been living abroad, while Lisa has carried on in their small English town, where nothing ever happens. But when events take a sorry turn, Ben is forced to return to a life he never wanted, a town he never liked and a family from which he’s estranged. Can the unlikely healing of a rift with his big sister come in the form of a struggling local choir and the ensemble who sing their hearts out each week?

Guest stars include Hannah Waddingham, James McAvoy, and Jim Broadbent, and there’s a strong supporting cast too.

Apple describes the show as being a comedic drama about “family, friendship, love and music,” with a seemingly similar heartwarming feel to that of Gavin & Stacey.
