Apple’s new ‘Switch to Safari’ campaign details why you should ditch Chrome

Apple is kicking off a new campaign today to promote Safari’s benefits over Chrome. With a new “Switch to Safari” page on its website and a pair of new YouTube videos, Apple wants everyone to know Safari is “a more powerful and private browser than Chrome.”

On the new website, Apple touts several advantages of Safari over Chrome, including better battery life, stronger privacy protections, and faster performance.

  • Safari offers up to 5 hours more video streaming on your Mac compared with Chrome.
  • Chrome doesn’t remember which distractions you want to keep hidden.
  • Chrome lets more third-party trackers follow you across the web and collect and sell your data to advertisers.
  • Safari is up to 35% faster than Chrome when loading frequently visited sites on Mac.

The site also includes a side-by-side Safari vs Chrome comparison chart, alongside details on features including Reader Mode, Notify Me, Profiles, Apple Pay, and more.

This campaign would be better if they had brought back Safari for Windows. Kinda silly to create a campaign for a computer that already has Safari.

In addition to the new “Switch to Safari” website, Apple has also published two YouTube videos showcasing Safari’s Distraction Control and Intelligent Tracking Prevention.

You can check out the new page on Apple’s website and watch the new videos below. This is only the latest example of Apple’s head-to-head promotion of Safari vs Chrome. Earlier this year, the company launched a new “Privacy on iPhone” campaign promoting Safari as the more private alternative to Chrome.
