Siri AI coming to older Apple TV 4K models, here’s what’s compatible

Today Apple introduced a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K with Siri AI, and A19 chip, and more. But the company also shared welcome news for current Apple TV users: Siri AI is compatible with select older models too.

Siri AI supported on Apple TV 4K 2nd and 3rd generation

The new Apple TV 4K is packed with a variety of upgrades, but it also has a higher $299 starting price.

While it’s previously been expected that the rumored Siri AI support in tvOS would require the new hardware, it seems that’s not the case.

I don't think Siri AI is very good yet, and $299 is a very high price for the new Apple TV box, so I think I will stick with my 3rd gen for awhile longer.

In Apple’s press release, it says:

Siri AI is available as a beta on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later), and is available at launch in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the UK in English.

This means users of the last two generations of Apple TV 4K can benefit from Siri AI too with a forthcoming software update for tvOS.

Siri AI will almost certainly perform better on the latest-generation hardware, but it’s great to see it supported on some older models too.
