Apple’s Shortcuts app offers tremendous power, especially with iOS 26’s additions around AI. But my own most-used shortcuts tend to be extremely simple, including one shared by Quinn Nelson for opening an app’s settings.
Shortcut lets you jump into an app’s Settings menu with a single tap
In iOS 18, Apple redesigned the iPhone’s Settings app entirely. And unfortunately, this revamp made it harder to get to an app’s settings menu.
But last fall, Quinn Nelson shared a shortcut that makes opening an app’s Settings screen so much faster and easier than before. All you have to do is:
- Install this single-step ‘App Settings’ shortcut
- Add a Control Center ‘Run Shortcut’ control
- Assign that control to your new ‘App Settings’ shortcut
After completing the setup, the next time you’re using an app and want to open its settings, you can just:
- swipe to open Control Center
- run the shortcut
- and you’ll jump straight into the right section of the Settings app
Here’s Nelson’s screen recording to show what it looks like:
Ever since I first installed the shortcut, it quickly became contender for my most-used daily shortcut.
Initially, it took some mental adjustment to stop myself from automatically closing my current app, going to Settings, searching for the right app name, and finding the app’s settings from there.
But now that I’ve gotten used to this new method, it’s been such a great time saver.
Sometimes, the simplest shortcuts really are the best.
