Apple Cash is making instant transfers more expensive soon

Apple Cash users, there’s a change coming soon to the fee for instant transfers to a debit card, with increases both to the percentage and max fee. Here are the details.

Starting February 18, Apple Cash instant transfers will cost more

If you ever need to send an iPhone user some money, Apple Cash has long been one of the quickest, easiest ways to do that. And recently in iOS 26 it even became available in Messages group chats for the first time.

Similar to third-party competitors like Venmo, there’s no fee for the average Apple Cash transaction.

However, the one exception is when you need to transfer Apple Cash to a debit card fast.

For standard transfers to a bank, there’s no fee but it may take 1-3 days for the funds to become available.

If you need an “instant transfer,” Apple Cash charges a fee. And via newly updated terms, it’s been revealed that the fee is increasing starting February 18.

  • Current fee through February 17: 1.5%, subject to a $0.25 minimum and $15 maximum
  • New fee starting February 18: 1.7%, subject to a $0.25 minimum and $25 maximum

There are two aspects to the increase. The base rate of 1.5% is increasing to 1.7%, but the max fee is also going up.

So if you’re transferring a large sum of money in an instant transfer, the new max fee will be $25, up from $15. And it will be easier to hit that maximum due to the higher 1.7% fee.

For the next few weeks, the current rates still apply. But starting mid-February, you’ll have even more reason to opt for a slower, free transfer to your bank.
