iOS 27.2 adds new app icon for Apple Music, more design updates

iOS 27.2 beta 4 debuted today for developers, and the update includes a new app icon for Apple Music alongside other design updates in the Music app.

Refreshed Music app icon, tab bar updates, and Library tweaks arrive in iOS 27.2

Apple appears in the midst of a gradual branding refresh for Apple Music.

The company recently debuted an all-new Apple Music logo that’s started spreading to more places, including an appearance in iOS 27.2 beta 3 last week.

And now today with beta 4, iOS 27.2 has a new app icon for Music too.

As seen above, the new app icon removes color from the branding. It’s a white icon with black music logo by default, and in dark mode it’s black with a white logo.

Let's hope it doesn't get past the beta, because it's just a white box with a. musical note.

Alongside this change, the Music app in iOS 27.2 now uses blue in the tab bar for the currently active tab—a stark shift from the previous red/pink branding. Widgets for the Music app similarly now use simple black backgrounds instead of the iconic red/pink.

Additionally, in your Library, the list of different sections like Playlists, Albums, Artists, and Songs have all had color removed in favor of a black-and-white design.

Apple Music is available for $11.99/month, or you can get it as part of the Apple One bundle.
