New MacBook Pro redesign details revealed ahead of launch

Apple debuted a new M6 MacBook Pro today, but a high-end MacBook Pro redesign is coming tomorrow, and Mark Gurman has shared some new details to expect.

MacBook Pro’s new design to feature thinner bezels, revamped hinge, and more per Mark Gurman

We’re one day away from Apple’s reveal of its highly anticipated redesigned MacBook Pro. And we’ve just gotten a couple new details about what to expect from the design.

Mark Gurman posted the following on X:

It sounds like there are at least four aspects to the new design coming:

  1. Slightly thinner case
  2. Thinner bezels
  3. Noticeably lighter
  4. Revamped hinge

The new MacBook Pro being thinner and lighter has been reported before. But the thinner bezels and a revamped hinge are new details.

Gurman highlights the hinge as an ironic focal point due to reports of a small number of iPhone Duo displays cracking, potentially related to a malfunctioning hinge.

As mentioned in the post, the new MacBook Pro is also expected to offer a touchscreen that uses OLED technology. And Gurman has previously reported it will feature M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, and replace the notch with a hole-punch cutout and Dynamic Island.
