Following a new drone flyover of Apple’s under construction Campus 2 over the weekend, Apple and the City of Cupertino today shared an official updated aerial shot of the site showing the latest progress on the project.
Apple appears to have made a lot of progress on the building’s foundation and earthwork for the surrounding campus since last checking in with official aerial imagery.
Construction on the new building, which is set to house 12,000 staff by its estimated 2016 completion date, is currently in the earthwork/building construction phase that kicked off in the second quarter of 2014 earlier this year. Apple is also planning to continue demolition and street utilities work until the end of the year, with building construction expected to wrap up by the end of calendar 2016:
Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke about the ‘Spaceship” Campus 2 HQ in a recent interview noting that he thinks it will “be the greenest building on the planet.”

I find it weird calling it green when most of the materials used to build this campus is imported from areas that have been destroyed for their natural resources…
Actually, your comment is more weird.

It’s likely to run on 100% renewable and mostly CLEAN renewable, given the trend of their data centers and other buildings. There weren’t any dummies designing this, in fact it is one of the last few new things we can see that will have Steve Jobs’ direct influence. I think that’s pretty cool
Hope to see it on MTV Cribs when construction is finished

Norman Foster worked on many high profile buildings around the world, and is held in a high regard. foster worked directly with Steve jobs on designing this building, and it is well documented that steve did not work with dummies. macrumors had an article where foster explained some of his design philosophies about Campus 2 – he isn’t a dummy
There is nothing green about it. Just a bunch of PR b.s.
Go hang out at the Android/Samsung forums where your presence will be appreciated.

Thanks for clearing that up for us. Where would the world be, without you to expose all of Apple’s “PR BS”?
The drone shot looks much more current than this one.
Yes – That drone video is really impressive. I would love to take a tour of this building when it’s completed (like that would ever be allowed).
Look closely. Does anyone else see the rough shape of the Enterprise D taking form here? Apple’s ultimate secret project. Make it so.
