Idiotic, useless, and ugly. There’s one born every minute.
Love you too, Gazoo Bee.
-Jordan XOXO
I have to agree with him. Wrapping up a beautiful product like this in ugly plastic and metal demonstrates a lack of good taste or common sense. If any of these products rendered the watch truly waterproof and submersible at least that would have a real world application. But every protective product listed here is the modern day equivalent of plastic-covered furniture.
“Idiotic, useless, and ugly.”
Like your comment.
I agree. Money grubbers. (The aluminum maybe if you were very clumsy … Even then..)
Edition owners aren’t going to cover it up, defeats the point of it being gold..
SS watch people wo t want to cover it.
An impact that can break it won’t be prevented by this crap.
Unless a case provides waterproof purposes for swimming, what exactly is the point of a case for the Apple Watch with the sapphire screen?
Not all models of the WATCH come with the sapphire glass.
Yes, correct. That is why I asked what is the point of the case for the models with the sapphire glass.
Exactly, especially considering that the Sport model supposedly sold more than any other model.
what models do not come with sapphire glass? is sapphire better or worse than what the other comes with?
There is no point except to leach money off of suckers.
the point for the case is to protect the watch “ie glass and shell” not to make it waterproof although sapphire crystal “what all of you are calling glass” is stonger then the normal glass apple uses for the sport watch, it can still break, crake and even get scratched. its not just to rip us off, nothing is indestructible. so if your going to ask me am i getting a case the answer is yes because i would rather protect something then lose it.
Sapphire crystal is actually more prone to shattering than the “Gorilla Glass” found on the Sport model but it is much more resistant to scratching than the “Gorilla Glass”.
Also, the idea of a watch (in my opinion) that it’s supposed to be jewelry and technology combined. Having a rubber cover, or that orange rugged case seems tasteless and covers up the clean design of the watch.
Again that’s just my opinion. Maybe somebody who doesn’t care about style will find these useful.
“Sapphire is the second-hardest transparent substance after diamond.”.. So unless one of these cases is made of pure diamond, I’m out.
Sapphire glass is also extremely brittle so the first time your uncased watch makes a significant impact with something relatively hard (i.e. Brick wall, metal door knob, corner of a hard table) the screen will shatter. That is why the ion-x display is the screen of choice for the Sport model. It may not be über-scratch resistant but it won’t shatter, as easily at least. Putting a case on the Apple Watch is always going to increase the chances it survives the fall, impact, etc… but like some have said putting a case on it destroys the integrity of the watch from a fashion sense. Just be informed completely before making somewhat ignorant comments.
saying it ‘will’ shatter upon impact (a definitive statement) is an ignorant comment as well. Could a sapphire watch crystal shatter with a hard impact, yes. Will it maybe, maybe not. I’ve been wearing watches with sapphire crystals for 30+ years and have never shattered one or had one scratch, so in my humble opinion a screen protector and or watch protector is ridiculous.
The chances of you shattering an Apple Watch display are probably very very slim. How many people do you see walking around with a shattered watch or know of having had to send one in for repair after smashing it? If you’ve done something to smash your watch then chances are you need to be far more concerned about what happened to the person wearing the watch at the time.
“Sapphire glass is also extremely brittle so the first time your uncased watch makes a significant impact with something relatively hard the screen will shatter.”
If you’d ever owned a quality watch (the ones that come with sapphire crystal) you’d know better than to make such a foolish statement. I’ve worn a Submariner with a sapphire crystal almost every day and night for the last 20 years. Despite the usual impacts and abrasions it has been subjected to, the sapphire has never scratched nor shattered. The only signs of wear on the watch are light scratches to the stainless steel case & bracelet (which can be easily buffed out by a watchmaker) and a few tiny chips to the edge of the crystal that can only be seen under extreme magnification.
Allow me to revise my earlier comment, as I read the replies and then my own comment over again, I misspoke. I did not mean to say in the first line ‘will’, as that is foolishly definitive. If you replace that with ‘can’ or ‘has the potential to’ in the first sentence and also add that my assumption is based mostly on multiple articles relating the the sheer brittleness of sapphire glass as tested by Corning, then I do stand by my earlier comment.
I do own a (relatively) expensive watch that has sapphire glass but what differentiates that from an Apple Watch with a sapphire crystal display is that on my watch the glass resides ever so slightly under the case, so any flush impact would only come into contact with case, and not the display. Thats why I say that a case on the Apple Watch would be useful, and comments like the one above ““Sapphire is the second-hardest transparent substance after diamond.”.. So unless one of these cases is made of pure diamond, I’m out.” is at least somewhat ignorant, if not also foolish.
As a side note, it may have seemed like I completely preferred the Ion-X display over the sapphire in my earlier comment and that is actually the opposite. I would much rather have the Apple Watch with sapphire glass display then its ‘sport’ counterpart, but did end up preordering the Sport as I want to see how the Watch plays out in practical use before investing very much money in it.
You know, I’d love to surround my shiny watch with a tank or make it entirely useless stuffed away inside a long wallet, but I really don’t.
Why do these exist again? Apple Watch isn’t something you’re going to be dropping easily like an iPhone. Worst you’ll do is swing it into a hard surface and crack the screen or chip the edges. I can see the screen protector making sense, but nothing else that entirely ruins the look of this fashion tech.
Bottom line: Be careful with your expensive tech. If you’re swinging your arms around like a madman with it on, you’re only asking for trouble. My Apple stuff stays pristine for years without protection because I take careful care of my $350-1800 products.
Apple Watch is the first watch you can’t reasonably replace with $20 cheapie, when you’re out digging holes in the garden, or off doing your bricklaying job.
Anyone doing manual labour can take off their Tag Heuer, and put on a knockoff Casio Rubbertastic 2000 and still be able to get exactly the same information as before… namely, the time.
Now, if you want your notifications even when you’re throwing gravel around, you can put on your sport band and slap on a watch condom. I don’t need it personally, but I’m not going to knock them anymore.
Especially not the easily removable ones.
You hit the nail on the head. Most days at my job I’m in the office, but some days I’m out in the field. Could absolutely see one of these products coming in handy for field days.
Protection = good for contractors/outdoor workers , people with rougher jobs
Everything the other commenters said not withstanding… My issue here is more with the fact that NONE of these “April 26th” deliver by dates mentioned in this article are real. Click any of them, Speigen, Luvett etc, they are all late or mid May.
So if you get it on launch, spend 3 weeks in a padded room because otherwise the watch will start disintegrating LOL.
http://www.watch-et.com The cover that covers the Apple protection covers! The best protection for the Apple WATCH,wristwatches and wristphones!
I’ve ordered a Bumper
This isn’t something I expect to wear all the time, but when working in the garden, doing DIY etc. The sorts of jobs that have damaged my Pebble watch in the past.
Have you seen the carbon fiber skin one yet? Blocks the back sensors. :)
Can’t wait for an Otterbox! 😄
I actually like these heavy duty cases. I play basketball a lot and was looking for a way to safely have this watch on to collect the fitness data. These cases give me a way to do that. Love it.
If you bought the sport watch and are looking to fork out again for a case, you might as well have spent a bit extra for the Steel watch!
That orange cover make me want an orange sport band. Anyone else think that?
Nothing like a faux carbon fiber decal on your watch to convey your sense of good taste.
I am really agree because is very important to use protectors for Apple watch, of course protectors that are comfortable, insurance, smart and finally cheaps. Because They have a lot of excuses to win most money. Also Apple need to show most commercial about this types of products. Because I would like to say, Hey! I want to buy the protector for my Apple Watch with my money. I Bought the Apple Watch and the protector. A.V
the Apple Watch wand the protector was bought by me. P.V
Experience says that a slight glance of the watch edge against a granite countertop will shatter the sapphire crystal. Hopefully the shells will dampen that and protect the watch.
Highly appreciated to your really professional awesome review about top apple watch screen protector,we really learn a lot and do know what the differences between the best and others and how to pick a favorable apple watch tempered glass screen protector.
As far as I am concerned,i am accustomed to using the 3D curved Apple Watch hardness tempered glass screen protector protecting against scratching, abrasion, erosion and finger-print,i bought a really fashionable but affordable dial diameter anti-glare screen protector for my Apple Watch 42mm at ONU MALL ONLINE STORE
