Webex Meetings expanding with Apple TV 4K and Apple Watch support

After bringing more capabilities to Webex for iPad, CarPlay, and more in recent years, Cisco has announced its latest expansion for its video conferencing software. The two new devices you’ll be able to join Webex Meetings from “soon” are Apple TV 4K and Apple Watch.

Cisco announced the news in a blog post today:

Today, I’m excited to announce that Webex by Cisco will soon be available on Apple TV 4K and Apple Watch, powering more ways to get work done anywhere. Cisco remains at the forefront of hybrid work innovations, dedicated to providing effortless collaboration for our customers on Apple products.

Here are more details on how the Apple TV 4K experience will work:

After downloading the Webex App on Apple TV 4K, users can simply scan a QR code for a seamless login experience and access their meetings. Apple tvOS 17’s Continuity Camera support allows Webex users to wirelessly connect their iPhone or iPad to the Apple TV 4K and leverage the device camera and microphone to participate in meetings.

Cisco highlights that the 2nd and 3rd gen Apple TV 4K are the only compatible models.

The other handy new way to take a Webex Meeting is with Apple Watch:

This new feature will allow users to start their day by viewing a list of upcoming meetings and join with a single touch in audio-only mode. Also, users can listen and participate in a Webex meeting by simply using their Apple Watch and AirPods.
