According to the latest edition of Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, Apple is working on a fully redesigned Magic Mouse, focusing on key criticisms of the existing product.
Apple just technically updated the Magic Mouse with a USB-C port, so this product might be a little while away. Gurman says Apple is “aiming to devise something that better fits the modern era.”
Customers have long criticized the Magic Mouse’s ergonomics, making it uncomfortable for longer term use. Additionally, because of its design, there’s no room for a charge port on the front, requiring users to flip the mouse over to plug it in.
This of course means that you cannot use the mouse while charging. However, Apple may soon (ish) have a solution for this. According to Bloomberg, Apple is “looking to create something that’s more relevant, while also fixing longstanding complaints.”
There aren’t many other details in the report, though I’m imagining something a little more similar to a Logitech MX Master, hopefully.
As for the timeline, this product won’t be available for another 12-18 months. That means it’ll roll out sometime in 2026, potentially sometime around the new redesigned MacBook Pros with OLED.
