iOS 18.2 beta: How to make Apple Intelligence images on iPhone

Alongside Genmoji in the developer beta of iOS 18.2 comes Image Playground, the Apple Intelligence image creator. Here’s how to make AI images on iPhone with Image Playground, requirements, and more.

Image Playground beta requirements

  • iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max, iPhone 16 or 16 Plus, or iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max
  • iOS 18.2 developer beta (full guide)
  • Request early access to the Apple Intelligence Image Creation features

While you need a recent iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence/18.2 beta to create Image Playground pictures, they’re just images so any iPhone or other device can receive, save, and send them once they’re made.

With these features in beta, Apple notes “Images may vary based on description, personalization, or photo selected.” And these features can change at any time.

Genmoji and Image Playground are separate features, check out our full guide on how to make Genmoji:

You can also tap the person icon to change the person used for the image or customize appearances:

Once you’ve got an image you like, tap Done in the top right corner. You’ll get the share button option and Edit button if you want to tweak it.

Tap the back arrow or swipe down to see your Image Playground library for previously created images.

At this point, there is a limitation of including one person per image.
