Facebook recently introduced a new feature for profiles called Timeline, and the social network giant describes it as “[telling] your life story with a new kind of profile.” The feature, as demonstrated for the web in Facebook’s promotional video shown above, places all of your photographs, interactions, status updates, and more on a timeline that starts from the day you were born.

The feature works great on the desktop web and mobile version of Facebook’s website, and now Facebook plans to bring Timeline to the iPad’s Facebook application. Timeline was supposed to come to the iPad in December, but the feature’s release was pushed back due to last minute bugs found during advanced testing. Facebook is now planning to launch the update between mid-January and late January. Read on to learn more about Timeline for iPad

Facebook released an update to their iPhone and iPod touch application in mid-December. This update brought Timeline profile support in addition to improved photo management, subscriptions management, and Friends List support to all three of Apple’s mobile iOS devices: the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

The large, Multi-Touch version of Timeline is described as very smooth and intuitive and a fusion of the web and iPhone/iPod touch versions. It is a touch screen optimized version of the web experience.

“The app was already delayed once because of bugs,” a source said. “So, it would not be surprising for the update to be delayed once again.” The source further stressed, though, that a mid-to-late-January launch is definitely the current plan. My source also mentioned that Apple’s approval process is also a factor, and those additional days may come on top of the mid-to-late-January goal, pushing the release back.
