Following the devastating hacking into Mat Honan of Wired‘s digital life, Wired reports that Apple has put a 24 hour freeze on over-the-phone password resets. Honan’s account was infiltrated with help from an AppleCare tech support representative who reset Honan’s password, for the hackers, with minimal information. The hackers obtained a critical piece of information in order to make this Apple iCloud password reset via Amazon. Earlier today, Amazon confirmed that they have plugged that security hole by not allowing account changes over the phone. If you’ve yet to read Honan’s story, you definitely should at Wired.
