Logitech announces the Harmony Ultimate Hub: Turns any iPhone into a full-fledged Universal Remote

After nearly selling their Harmony remote line, Logitech has officially announced the Harmony Ultimate Hub, an “appcessory” that turns any iPhone (or most any Smartphone!) into a slick universal remote.  Bringing the beautiful Harmony remote touch interface to smartphones everywhere.  The hub allows up to 8 devices to connect and control entertainment systems from anywhere in the house via a Bluetooth connection.  No more precision remote shooting to try and hit the IR sensor just right…

Harmony is compatible with over 225,00 home theater devices and can even control streaming services like Netflix and Hulu on video game consoles.   Logitech launched a similar hub in the past which was bundled with an expensive touchscreen Harmony remote.  The new Ultimate Hub cuts costs considerably by leveraging the capabilities of today’s smartphones.  At just $100, the Ultimate Hub will come in $250 below the retail price of the  previously released bundle.  Standalone Harmony Touch remotes will be compatible with the new hub.

For years harmony has been one of the most respected brands in remote technology.  It seems like the Ultimate Hub is a move in the right direction making this technology affordable for everyone.   The Ultimate Hub will be available in the US and Europe in August 2013.

Logitech also makes Bluetooth speakers, computer accessories and some of the best iPad keyboard cases around.
