Apple’s iOS Movie Trailers app updated with Fandango ticket purchasing integration, improved playback

Apple has updated its official iTunes Movie Trailers app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with some nice enhancements for video playback and movie ticket purchasing integration:

Apple now allows users to manually select between SD and HD video playback (which could help depending on your internet connection), and the update also promises to make playback begin more quickly.

Perhaps most notably, the new app update integrates Fandango for movie ticket purchasing. Apple added this functionality to Siri earlier this year. Transactions are routed through Fandango’s App Store app. Various performance and stability improvements are also present in the free 1.2.3 update.

Release notes:

You can now choose HD or SD quality while viewing a trailer on iPhone and iPod touch with Retina display and iPad
• Video playback has been improved—it now takes less time for a trailer to start playing
• Movie tickets can be purchased using the Fandango app
• Additional improvements to performance and stability
