TaiG jailbreak almost instantly updated for iOS 8.1.2, download available now

Prominent jailbreakers i0n1c and iH8sn0w had strongly suggested that yesterday’s release of iOS 8.1.2 wouldn’t block the TaiG jailbreak, and this has now been confirmed: the latest version is available just a day after the iOS update.

The jailbreak supports all devices capable of running iOS 8, including the iPhone 6/Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.

It’s Windows-only for now, with a Mac version promised later. The Pangu team released an OS X tool for its own jailbreak last month.

Silly question…why would anyone want to jailbreak an iPhone? Really? I’m genuinely curious. Please help me understand. Thanks.

Where does Apple get most of its new features for each new ios rollout?

don’t you like to have options, Your home computer you are able to download and install what ever you like, On the iphone you are able to only install apps that are downloaded from the APP-Store and although I agree that there are security risks involved by downloading 3rd party apps the decision to do so should be yours and yours alone. Apple has the right to not allow what they feel is a risk from being offered in their App-store but to take a stand of “WE WILL TELL YOU WHAT IS OK OR NOT” is not theirs to make since we have purchased their device and they are not the owners of the device any longer.

There used to be BETTER reasons, for instance iPhone users couldn’t change the APN settings to use 3rd party paygo data and MMS services. Also, US carriers forbade users from tethering (with Apple complicit) after the promised the FCC and Congress they wouldn’t do that (AT&T used a loophole of only allowing certain tiers of their contract customers to tether, but the “promise” didn’t include such crossed-finger exceptions). Apple was complicit in all of these shenanigans, and iOS inherently prohibited users from using the device as it COULD be used. Jailbreak solutions overcame all of that.

Being Jailbroken, I had the new app switcher before most everyone else. I had the Notification Center before near everyone else. I have had the Control Center before everyone else. Sure, Apple added all those features, eventually, but it is arguable that without the jailbreak community they’d not have felt the pressure to do them.

But even today, jailbroken, I can hide the AT&T banner from the notification area (screw AT&T, they’re pricks…I USE them, not ADVERTISE for them); I can set Gmail to be my primary MAILTO: client and Chrome to be my default browser (actually, I -can- but I don’t…but I have a lot of business clients who use Google Apps who wish they had this feature); I can install MAME and GameBoy emulators and enjoy great games on my iPhone that I had purchased YEARS ago for various consoles; I can use Bluetooth headsets on my iPad; I can boost my volume on my iPhone (I’m hard of hearing, and Apple’s 100% just doesn’t cut it); and there are DOZENS of other little tweaks and changes that I installed to make MY iPhone JUST how I want to use it. I am not encumbered by Apple’s “vision” of what I should want.

If Apple would simply allow me to sideload apps and knowingly bypass the sandbox, I wouldn’t jailbreak. But for whatever reason, they just can’t have that, can’t let me use the device the way I feel is best. So until Apple realizes they’ve become the Big Head on the Screen from the infamous “1984” commercial, I’ll keep jailbreaking.

I am hard of hearing too as my hearing has dropped from 75% to 28%, I have not jailbreak my iPhone since iPhone 3G and bought $200 for iPhone 4S unlocked. I now have the iPhone 6 and downloaded a very loud ringtone which I can hear. I got this from Zedge on their website and converted the ringtone to iTunes and added it to my iPhone. What I am waiting for is the ability to hear the phone ring, emails, sms without my hearing aids and have a vibrating watch like iWatch and hope that will help. By the way, my last jailbreak was iPhone 3G and used it from Canada to USA and purchased AT&T sim card and it worked as an unlocked iPhone.
